Fijin syrup
Dosage form:
120 ml emulsion in a PET, including leaflet and measuring cap inside the box.
Ingredients:
Fig, Golden rain tree fruit, Cordia fruit, Almond oil, Raisins, Persian manna, Honey.
Indications:
1- Acute and chronic constipation especially during pregnancy and lactation with minimum side effects.
2- Constipation of neonates and children without any cramp and gastrointestinal side effects.
3- Chronic constipation in elderly.
Mechanism of action:
Because of high fiber, mucilage and sugar content in Fig, it has laxative effect.
Dosage:
Unless otherwise prescribed, children take 10 ml of emulsion 1 or 2 times per day. Adults take 10-20 ml two times per day.
Side effects:
In case of diarrhea and prolonged usage it may cause potassium deficiency which can lead to heart dysfunction and muscular weakness.
Contraindications:
In case of allergy to any component of medicine.
Interactions:
It can enhance the effect of other laxatives. It may reduce body potassium; hence it should be use with caution during usage of Digoxin, Warfarin and Diuretics.
Cautions:
Shake well before use. For better efficacy, drink at least 6 glass of water per day.
Using during pregnancy and lactation:
No restriction known.
